Kids' Websites Page 3

Gathered here are various links to websites we use when teaching pupils. They can be used just as easily either with parents, older siblings or in many cases by children themselves to practise various concepts and skills.

If you find any good websites yourself and think others may benefit from it please email us and we'll add it to the site (same goes for mistakes or broken links!).

This is a website focusing on phonic games for children who are learning or revising phonics - an essential when learning to read. There are free activities here, and for a fairly inexpensive subscription you can access a wider variety and better quality of games.

Another fully subscription website, but very inexpensive considering the large amount of subjects and areas of learning covered. This is good quality, multi-media learning at its best and all for a few pounds.

A relative newcomer to the online learning market, although the success of Mathletics (3P Learning) gave an indication of how good it would be. We've only just started using it, but initial reaction has got us very excited! Children are placed on a 'track' of learning by an initial assessment, and then follow this path on their journey to becoming a successful reader. Very affordable too!

Lovers of Oxford Reading tree won't believe their luck! This website offers dozens of ORT books for free in an 'e' format - ideal for reading with your child, or putting up on the smartboard for a class read. Teachers, say goodbye to 'BIG' books forever!

Great printable resources in maths & English for display at home or in the classroom. Colourful, simple and attractive.

Nessy is a UK based company that has been making fun educational software for children since 1999. They work closely with the Bristol Dyslexia Centre to ensure that all Nessy titles are especially helpful for dyslexics. We agree entirely that all Nessy stuff is excellent quality and the rule of thumb is that if it's good enough for a child with dyslexia or dyscalculia then it's good enough for ALL children. In particular, we have tried Nessy Games player and 1 or 2 apps for the ipad - they are great fun and very useful for several literacy skills. We're looking forward to trying the new 'Tables of Doom' soon.

Excellent site continuing in the tradition of Nessy products of producing engaging, well-thought out, educational content aimed at children learning their times tables. Very reasonably priced, intuitive to use and would benefit any child who needs to learn or practice their times tables.

A free site for practising mental maths activities. No worksheets, just fun games!
